Jun 20, 2020 · It depends on the state -some have POC,some like here partial (I have to call in handgun to State Police-wait times on call back have been up to 3 days due to volume of 3 times more then normal) long guns go to W/V NICS call center-or online,immediate response-except more delays and at one point-again due to overwhelming volume,any "pending" could go to a delay.
MLK Day. The federal NICS is open every day except Christmas. Other states let FFL's use the free federal NICS. In NJ, FFL's have to use NJ NICS to contact federal NICS for you. During state holidays, no gun sales in NJ. It hurts NJ gun dealers since it's impossible to buy a gun here during the busiest shopping days.
